The Hospices de Beaune Wine Auction celebrated by Bouchard Père & Fils invited nearly 120 guests, French and international journalists, influencers and friends, to receptions and tastings hosted by Frédéric Weber.
“OUTSTANDING VINTAGES INSPIRED BY THE SUN” At the opening dinner on Friday, November 15th, renowned journalists joined Frédéric Weber for a discussion and tasting of vintages resulting from very hot years. At a time of global warming and new challenges for viticulture, Bouchard Père & Fils is engaged in a process of reflection and has introduced initiatives that it wished to share in order to ensure the quality and reputation of Burgundy wines for generations to come. The 1947, 1990 and 2003 vintages magnificently illustrated and accom¬panied this reflection process. THE FOUR TERRACES OF CHEVALIER-MONTRACHET An exceptional terroir owned by our Domaine This is the stuff of dreams for lovers of the world’s finest wines: Bouchard Père & Fils owns 2.33 hectares of vines in Chevalier-Montrachet, growing on four successive terraces that it has chosen to vinify separately. Each terrace has its own individual character determined by the soil, the slopes and the orientation. Tasting the wines from each of these terraces before their incorporation in a Chevalier-Montrachet blend of majestic balance and complexity is a unique privilege. Frédéric Weber and his team wanted to invite a few discerning friends to this exceptional and ephemeral tast-ing of each of the terrace wines before their blending. The differences are obvious, edifying, and illustrating the richness and complexity of what we call the terroir in an emotive and masterful manner.
